Calvin Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches at Wittenberg Border Battle

SPRINGFIELD, OH Calvin split a pair of matches at the Border Battle hosted by Wittenberg University, defeating Hiram (OH) 25-12, 26-24, 25-17 and then falling to Mount St. Joseph 31-29, 26-24, 20-25, 32-30.

ANGOLA, IN—The nationally-ranked Calvin women’s volleyball team moved up three spots in the national poll on Wednesday afternoon and then went out and defeated Trine University in three sets a few hours later to improve to 5-1 overall and to 2-0 in the MIAA. Now ranked 18th in the latest AVCA Division III Top 25 poll released Wednesday afternoon, Calvin defeated host Trine 25-14, 27-25, 25-20 Wednesday evening inside Trine’s Hershey Hall.

Warners Picks Up Win #200 As Volleyball Team Takes Second at ONU Invite

ADA, OH—Calvin women’s volleyball coach Amber Warners picked up the 200th victory of her collegiate coaching career in five-set victory over Carnegie-Mellon Saturday afternoon at the Ohio Northern Invitational. Calvin defeated Carnegie-Mellon in come-from-behind fashion, winning by scores of 16-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-8. Calvin (3-1-0) then fell to the College of Mount St. Joseph 25-18, 23-25, 28-26, 25-16 in the championship finals to finish the tournament with a 3-1 record.

Calvin Opens Ohio Northern Invitational With Upset Win over Host Polar Bears

ADA, OH—The Calvin volleyball team got off to a roaring start to the 2008 season with a pair of victories at the Ohio Northern Invitational on Friday. Calvin opened the tournament with a 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 win over Hiram and then came back to upset 11th-ranked Ohio Northern 26-24, 25-17, 31-29 in front of an enthusiastic throng Friday night.

The Calvin women’s volleyball team is ranked 21st in the pre-season Division III Top-25 poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association earlier this week. Rival Hope College is ranked 23rd.
