Volleyball Holds Off Trine in Five-Set Thriller

Ranked No. 17 in the nation, the women’s volleyball team won its second consecutive MIAA match-up Tuesday, prevailing in an electrifying five-game bout over the visiting Trine Thunder (16-25, 25-16, 24-26, 25-15, 15-6).

Lauren DeGroot Named MIAA Specialty Player of the Week

For the fifth time in her collegiate career, Calvin senior Lauren DeGroot has been named the MIAA’s Specialty Player of the Week. A setter from Tulare, California, DeGroot amassed 54 assists (13.5 per set) in a four-set victory over Albion last Wednesday. A graduate of Central Valley Christian High School, she was also credited with 13 digs and two blocks in the Calvin win.

Knights Hold Off Albion in MIAA Volleyball Match

ALBION—Calvin got back on the winning track and snapped a four-match winning streak by a determined Albion squad Wednesday night at Albion’s Kresge Gymnasium, winning by scores of 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22. Ranked 17th in the latest AVCA Division III Top 25 poll, Calvin is now 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the MIAA.

Volleyball Splits Pair of MIAA Matches at Home

Calvin split a pair of matches in Saturday’s MIAA triangular match at the Huizenga Track and Tennis Center. The Knights swept fourth place Saint Mary’s in three games and fell in a five game thriller to sixth place Adrian. Calvin moves to 5-2 in league play and 11-4 overall.

Volleyball Rolls To Win at Olivet

OLIVET – The nationally-ranked Calvin women’s volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 25-7, 25-9, 25-16 victory at Olivet Tuesday night inside the Cutler Events Center. Now ranked 16th in the most recent AVCA Division III Top-25 poll, Calvin improves to 10-3 overall and to 4-1 in the MIAA. The Knights are just behind 5-1 Alma with Hope leading the league standings at 7-0.

GRAND RAPIDS—The momentum of a large and vocal crowd inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center was not enough to lift the Calvin women’s volleyball team to victory Friday night against rival Hope as the Flying Dutch handed the Knights a 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22 defeat.

Rebecca Kamp Named MIAA Volleyball Player of the Week

For the first time in her collegiate career, Calvin College freshman Rebecca Kamp has been named MIAA Player of the Week in women’s volleyball. A 6-1 middle-hitter out of Orland Park, Illinois, Kamp had 16 kills and a hitting percentage of .467 in leading the Knights to a league victory over Trine University last Tuesday night. She also had nine digs and three blocks in the contest.

Volleyball Upsets ONU and Wittenberg At Border Battle

Calvin closed out the two-day Wittenberg Border Battle with a pair of upset victories over nationally-ranked opponents Saturday afternoon. Calvin opened with a 25-14, 14-25, 26-24, 25-21 victory over 10th-ranked Ohio Northern. The win marked Calvin’s second victory of the year over the Polar Bears. Ranked 18th in the most recent Division III Top-25 poll, Calvin then rattled off an impressive 25-16, 25-17, 25-14 victory over fifth-ranked and host Wittenberg.
