Returning starters include 2009 first team All-America selection Rebecca Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS), 2009 Great Lakes Regional Freshman of the Year selection Lizzie Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS) and 2009 All-MIAA second team selections Erin VanderPlas (Cadillac, MI/McBain Christian HS) and Renee DeHaan (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS).

Continuing the momentum of a 28-win campaign from a year ago is the goal of the 2010 Calvin volleyball team. Calvin’s 2009 team finished 28-7 overall, captured the MIAA Tournament title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA III Tournament.
If the Knights are to match last year’s success or even surpass it, they will need to avoid the injury bug that bit through the roster last season, particularly in late October when the Knights were battling for a regular season conference title.

The 2009-10 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Academic Honor Roll has been announced by Commissioner David Neilson and 143 Calvin scholar-athletes have been named to the list.
The honor roll recognizes scholar-athletes who achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the entire 2009-10 academic year. A student needed to have won a varsity letter in a sport to be eligible. The MIAA Academic Honor Roll program was initiated in 1990 to recognize students at MIAA member colleges who excel both in athletics and in the classroom. This year’s Honor Roll includes several students who achieved the distinction four consecutive years. Of the students, 19 are from Calvin.
