The latest set of NCAA III Fall Sports Regional rankings have been released.
In men’s soccer, Calvin is ranked third in the Central Region, down one spot from a week ago. In women’s soccer, Calvin remains ranked fifth in the Central Region. In volleyball, Calvin is ranked third in the Great Lakes Region.
The regional rankings are used as a guide for the NCAA III selection committee when announcing the NCAA III Tournament fields November 7 and 8.

The Calvin women’s volleyball team has moved up two spots in the latest set of Top 25 rankings released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Knights share the number-seven spot in this week’s poll with Hope. Calvin had been ranked ninth the previous five weeks.
Calvin and Hope are currently tied atop the MIAA standings with 13-1 conference records. Calvin closes out its MIAA regular season schedule this weekend, hosting Kalamazoo at 7 p.m. Friday night and Alma on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The ninth-ranked Calvin volleyball team improved to 23-3 overall and 13-1 in the MIAA with a 25-12, 25-20, 25-14 win over visiting Olivet Saturday afternoon at Calvin’s Van Noord Arena. Calvin treated a festive homecoming weekend crowd to an impressive performance as the Knights hit a blistering .374 on the floor.Calvin remains tied with Hope for the league lead with one week of league play left on the schedule. Calvin will host Kalamazoo next Friday and Alma the following afternoon to close out its MIAA regular season campaign.

ALBION, MI - The Calvin College Knights Women’s Volleyball Team came to Albion College looking to keep but a single blemish on their conference record for the season. The Albion Britons put up little resistance as Calvin defeated them in straight sets 25-17, 25-10, 25-9 in a match that lasted only 51 minutes. The win improves Calvin to 21-3 on the year, 12-1 in the MIAA. Calvin returns to action Saturday when it faces the Olivet Comets at Calvin’s Van Noord Arena.

The regional polls are used by the respective regional committees as guides for selection to the NCAA III Tournament at the conclusion of the regular season of each respective sport.

NOTRE DAME, IN - Calvin rolled to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-12 conference victory at Saint Mary’s Wednesday night in a match that lasted just 51 minutes. With the win, Calvin improved to 20-3 overall and to 11-1 in the MIAA. The Knights have now reached the 20-win plateau 16 consecutive years including all nine years under current head coach Amber Warners.
Sophomore Lizzie Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS) collected 11 kills and three block assists while junior Rebecca Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago christian HS) had 10 kills, six block assists and one block solo. Junior Renee DeHaan (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) had eight kills and five block assists.

NAPERVILLE, IL - The Calvin volleyball team took first place at the North Central Collete Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament on Saturday, sweeping by St. Mary’s (MN) 25-15, 25-22, 25-18 and Wheaton (IL) 25-19, 25-11, 25-15. Calvin (19-3 overall) swept all four of its weekend matches, allowing it to finish ahead of Hope in the final overall standings. Junior Rebecca Kamp and freshman Megan Rietema were both named to the all-tournament team.

NAPERVILLE, IL - The nationally-ranked Calvin volleyball team got back on the winning track with victories over St. Norbert (WI) and North Central Friday night at the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Invitational. Calvin (17-3) opened the tournament with a 25-15, 25-9, 25-8 win over St. Norbert and continued on with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 win over host North Central.

HOLLAND – Calvin’s seven-match win streak came to an end as did its sole possession of first place in the MIAA standings as the Knights were defeated at rival Hope Wednesday night 25-22, 25-22, 25-20.
Calvin and Hope are now tied for the MIAA lead with 10-1 conference records. Both teams came into the match nationally-ranked with Calvin ranked ninth and Hope ranked 12th.
Using the momentum of playing in front of more than 2,000 fans, Hope grabbed a quick 6-1 lead in set one and used an 8-3 run midway through the set to grab an early one-set lead. Calvin led in sets two and three but could not survive Hope comeback bids.

For the second time in her collegiate career, Calvin College sophomore Lizzie Kamp has been named MIAA Player of the Week in volleyball. A native of Orland Park, Illinois, Kamp (Chicago Christian HS) had 32 kills for a hitting percentage of .411 for the week as Calvin won three straight matches to maintain its hold on first place in the MIAA. In a key road matchup against Alma, Kamp had 13 kills and no errors in 26 attack attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, and added 14 digs and three blocks to lead the Knights to a sweep of the Scots.
