Calvin Presents a Look Back at the 2011 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships

Last month, the Calvin men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at the MIAA Championships at Jenison High School. At the meet, the Calvin women’s team captured its seventh consecutive MIAA title while the Calvin men’s team finished fourth. Calvin also captured three of the four MIAA MVP awards with sophomore Elizabeth Counsell claiming the MIAA Women’s Most Valuable Swimmer award, sophomore Samantha Klaasen receiving the MIAA Women’s Most Valuable Diver Award and freshman Andy Krafft claiming the MIAA Men’s Most Valuable Diver award. Calvin sports information director Jeff Febus and Calvin student Mike Zaagman teamed up to produce a 17-minute video recapping the three days of competition.

Calvin Men Finish 25th at NCAA III Swimming & Diving Championships - Women Finish 34th

KNOXVILLE, TN - The Calvin men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams closed out competition at the NCAA III Championships in record-breaking fashion on Saturday. Sophomore Elizabeth Counsell earned an All-America performance with a seventh place finish in the women’s 200 breaststroke while setting a school record in the process. Meanwhile, freshman Andy Krafft reset his own school record twice on Saturday in taking third place in the men’s three-meter diving competition. The All-America finish by Counsell enabled the Calvin women to finish in 34th place in the final team standings with 17 points while Krafft boosted the Calvin men’s team into a tie for 25th place in the final standings with 33 points.
