DETROIT—The Calvin men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams dropped dual meets in a triangular hosted by Wayne State on Saturday. In the men’s competition, Calvin was defeated by Wayne State 173-58 and by Denison 203-35. In the women’s competition, Calvin was defeated by Wayne State 170-71 and by Denison 164-79.

OLIVET—The Calvin men’s swimming and diving team dropped a 127-85 dual meet at Olivet while the Calvin women’s team defeated the host Comets in dual meet action 118-111.

WHEATON, IL Ė The Calvin menís and womenís swimming and diving teams split dual meets at Wheaton on Saturday with the womenís team edging Wheaton 122-115 while the Calvin menís team fell to Wheaton 119-102.
The Calvin womenís swim team is now 3-1 in dual meet competition this year while the Calvin menís team is 1-2.

The Calvin menís swimming and diving team returns eight letterwinners from a team that finished in fourth place in the 2008 MIAA standings. The eight returners will mesh with eight first-year swimmers.

The Calvin menís and womenís swimming and diving teams split a pair of duals this weekend. On Friday night, both teams were defeated at Division III Grand Valley State with the men falling in their season debut 189-88 and the women falling to the Lakers 170.5-118.5.
On Saturday, both Calvin teams defeated Albion at the East Grand Rapids Aquatic Center with the menís team winning by a 163-125 and the womenís team winning 182-117.

The Calvin sports information department sat down for an interview with Calvin swim coach Dan Gelderloos to reflect on the recently completed Summer Olympic Games. In the interview, Gelderloos reflected on the incredible achievements of Michael Phelps, the performances by the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Swim teams as a whole and the lessons learned this past year from former U.S. Olympic swimmer Josh Davis.
Gelderloos then gives his thoughts on the on-going construction with the Venema Aquatic Center on campus, new swim suit technology and its effect on collegiate swimming and a few tidbits on how some of his current and former swimmers are faring in triathlons.

At the end of the first day of the three-day MIAA Championship competition, the Calvin women’s swimming and diving team stands in first place with 228 points while the Calvin men are in fifth place with 76 points.« First < 13 14 15
