Men’s Tennis Drops Lawrence 9-0 in Spring Break Finale

ORLANDO, FL - Calvin closed out its spring trip with a 9-0 win over Lawrence University. The Knights are now 2-3 on the year. Calvin got off to a quick start, sweeping all three doubles points with Brian DeMaagd and Preston Phillips winning at No. 1 doubles, Phillip Reinken and Loukas Peterson winning at No. 2 doubles and Jarrod Brower and John Strikwerda winning at No. 3 doubles. Picking up singles points for Calvin were DeMaagd (No. 1), Peterson (No. 2), Reinken (No. 3), Phillips (No. 4), Brower (No. 5) and Vashan Wright (No. 6). Calvin is back in action next Tuesday when it hosts Davenport at 4 p.m.
Men’s Tennis Nipped by Hamline 5-4 in Orlando

ORLANDO, FL - For the second consecutive day, Calvin suffered a 5-4 loss, this time coming against Hamline University. Calvin held a 4-2 lead but Hamline came back to claim singles wins at #2, #3 and #5 singles to pull out the win. Hamline also claimed two of the three doubles points to gain an early edge. Singles victories for Calvin came from Brian DeMaagd, Philip Reinken and Jarrod Brower. Loukas Peterson and Reinken claimed Calvin’s lone doubles point at #2 doubles. Calvin is back in action on Thursday against Lawrence College.

ORLANDO, FL - Calvin dropped its first two matches in Orlando, falling 6-3 to Grinnell College on Monday and 5-4 to Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Tuesday. Calvin is back in action on Wednesday when it faces Hamline University at noon.
