Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams Both Ranked Number Two

The Calvin men’s and women’s cross country teams are both ranked number-two in the most recent Division III Top-25 poll of the year. The Calvin women have moved up two spots from last week’s poll while the Calvin remain in the number-two spot. Cortland State of New York remains the top-ranked team in the men’s poll while Amherst (MA) remains the top-ranked teams in the women’s poll.

The Calvin men’s and women’s cross country teams both hold top-four positions in the most recent set of Division III rankings released by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Calvin men’s cross country team will seek to keep a pair of notable streaks alive. Heading into the 2008 campaign, the Knights have captured 21 consecutive MIAA titles. The streak is the second longest active championship streak in MIAA history. The Knights have also garnered 10 consecutive top four national finishes beginning with a national runner-up berth in 1998 and later including national titles in 2000, 2003, 2004 & 2006. Last year, Calvin entered the NCAA III Cross Country Championships ranked number-one but finished fourth at the national meet.
