Calvin Women Fourth/Calvin Men Fifth in USTFCCCA Division III Program of the Year Standings

The recent success of the Calvin men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams at the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships coupled with strong performances by Calvin at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships have boosted Calvin in the AlCarius/Deb Vercauteren Program of the Year Standings. On the women’s side, Calvin is currently tied for fourth with Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the Deb Vercauteren standings while on the men’s side, Calvin is in fifth place in the Al Carius standings.
Calvin Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association has announced the recipients of its All-Academic Team Awards and the Calvin men’s and women’s cross country teams have been so honored. To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship. The Calvin women’s team posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.57 while the Calvin men’s team posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.35.

Calvin Men’s Cross Country Runners Receive All-Academic Honors From USTFCCCA

The United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association has named its 2010 All-Academic receipients in men’s cross country and four members of the Calvin men’s cross country team have been so honored. In order to receive USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, individuals must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships. Individuals from Calvin that received the honor include seniors Jake Christiansen and Ben VanWyk, junior Dan Kerr and sophomore Matt VanderRoest.
