Men’s Golf Third at MIAA Jamboree #4 - Moves Into 2nd Place Tie In Overall MIAA Standings

KALAMAZOO - A year ago, the Milham Park Golf Club proved to be a stumbling block for the Calvin men’s golf team. On Thursday, the course became a potential building block for the Knights who are making a strong bid for a big push up the MIAA standings at the mid-point of the conference season.

On Thursday, Calvin posted a third place team score of 298 strokes at the fourth MIAA Jamboree of the league season, hosted by Kalamazoo at the Milham Park Golf Club, allowing the Knights to move into a tie for second place with Adrian in the overall team standings. A year ago, the Knights closed out their 2008 MIAA campaign at the same course, fading to a sixth place team score of 329 strokes, leaving Calvin in fifth place in the final league standings.

ADRIAN—The Calvin men’s golf team turned in another solid performance at the third MIAA jamboree of the year and in the process, inched closer to second place in the overall MIAA standings Saturday afternoon at the Lenawee Country Club.

At Saturday’s outing hosted by Adrian College, Calvin posted a second place team score of 304 strokes, just two strokes behind Hope. The Knights also finished six strokes ahead of Adrian and now trail the Bulldogs by just three strokes in the overall team standings. The Knights are also just eight strokes back of league-leading Hope.

ALMA—Calvin moved into third place in the MIAA overall standings with a third place finish at the second MIAA jamboree of the year, posting a third place team score of 302 strokes, just one stroke behind Adrian and four strokes back of Hope.

Adrian continues to hold first place in the overall standings with a two-round total of 600 strokes with Hope close behind at 603. Calvin is in third at 609 followed by Olivet and Trine at 612
