Men’s Golf Prepares for Competition at NCAA III Tournament

GREENSBORO, NC - The Calvin men’s golf team will make it first-ever appearance in the NCAA III Tournament this week. Led by head coach Brian Bolt, the Knights will begin play on Tuesday morning at 7:50 a.m. Competing for the Calvin men’s golf team will be seniors Jess Hendriksma (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Eric Doezema (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS), sophomores Ben Kuiper (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Dave Sarkipato (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) and freshman Ross Ryzenga (Holland/Holland Christian HS). Competition will take place at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina. Guilford College will serve as host. Calvin will open play on Tuesday morning and will be joined by teams from Skidmore and Texas Lutheran. On Wednesday, Calvin will tee off with the same three teams beginning at 11:10 a.m.

Men’s Golf Ties Hope at Hope/Calvin Wooden Shoes Challenge

WEST OLIVE - The Calvin men’s golf team tied rival Hope in the Hope/Calvin Wooden Shoes Challenge Friday morning at the Wuskowhan Player’s Club. Both teams finished with 317 strokes. Calvin’s Jess Hendriksma and Hope’s Chris Ansel shared first place with rounds of 74. Rounding out Calvin’s finishers were sophomores Ben Kuiper and Dave Sarkipato with rounds of 80 while senior Eric Doezema and freshman Ross Ryzenga had rounds of 83. Calvin will now start preparing to compete at the NCAA III Championships May 10-13 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Men’s Golf Ties For Second at Own Knight Invitational

PIERSON—Slogging through on-and-off again rain showers, trhe Calvin men’s golf team tied for second at its own Knight Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Pilgrim’s Run Golf Course, posting a team score of 314 strokes. Davenport took first with 307 strokes while Calvin and Cornerstone tied for second. Calvin’s top individual finisher was senior Jess Hendriksma who took second with an even-par round of 73. Senior Eric Doezema was next at 79 with sophomore Ben Kuiper carding an 80, freshman Ross Ryzenga an 82 and sophomore Dave Sarkipato an 87.
