Baseball Team Posts 1-2 Record in Southern Trip to Kentucky

DANVILLE, KY – The Calvin baseball team opened its season with a 1-2 showing as the Knights played three games on the campus of Centre College on Saturday. Calvin opened the day with a doubleheader split against Defiance College, dropping the opener 6-1 before coming back to take the nightcap 14-2. Calvin then fell in its third and final game of the day, dropping a 10-2 contest to host Centre.
Baseball Team Picked to Finish Third in MIAA Preseason Poll

The Calvin baseball team has been picked to finish third in the MIAA preseason coaches poll. A year ago, Calvin finished third in the final MIAA regular season standings with a 15-13 conference record. The Knights posted an overall record of 20-20. Defending MIAA champion Adrian has been picked as the preseason favorite. The Bulldogs received five of a possible eight first place votes while Hope has been picked to finish second. The Flying Dutchmen received the other three first place votes. Calvin is scheduled to open its season on March 2 against Defiance College in Danville, Kentucky. Calvin will open its MIAA season on March 23 when it travels to Trine for a conference doubleheader. This year also marks the first time the MIAA will hold a postseason conference tournament. The four-team tournament will take place May 9-11.
