At Look Back at 178th Meeting Between Calvin and Hope in Men’s Basketball

The 178th meeting between Calvin and Hope in men’s basketball took place back on February 5. Hope captured the game by a score of 76-70, overcoming a 42-29 halftime deficit. Calvin student video producer Mike Zaagman was there on February 5 and recaps the game in this video package.

Men’s Basketball Slips Against Adrian - Now Locked in Five-Way Tie for Second Place in MIAA

The Knights fell short in their second consecutive conference game, falling to Adrian 75-63 Wednesday night at Van Noord Arena. Against the MIAA’s best defensive squad, Calvin shot 35.7% from the field, coupled with a meager 6-20 effort from beyond the 3-point arc. Adrian, on the other hand, was on fire.  The Bulldogs made 27 of their 50 field goal attempts and shot a lightning hot 57% from the parabola. Calvin is now locked in a five-way tie for second place with Adrian, Albion, Kalamazoo and Olivet for second place in the MIAA standings. All five teams are 6-5 in league play. Calvin will host Alma on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Men’s Basketball Falls at Olivet 71-69

OLIVET - The Calvin men’s basketball team dropped a 71-69 decision at Olivet Saturday afternoon. The two teams were tied 36-36 at halftime but Olivet used a second-half scoring run to take a 64-55 lead. Calvin rallied to within three at 67-64 and had a chance to tie but could not get a shot off. Olivet then used a layup and a free throw inside the final 20 seconds to seal the win. Tom Snikkers led Calvin in the loss with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Danny Rodts had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Olivet’s Michael McClary led all scorers with 29 points including 19 in the second half. Calvin is now tied for second place in the MIAA with Olivet and Albion as all three teams are 6-4 in league play.
