Calvin Tennis Teams/Players Receive ITA All-Academic Honors
The Calvin men’s and women’s tennis teams have received the the prestigious All-Academic Team Award from the International Tennis Association (ITA). The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). The men’s team is doing so for the sixth straight year while the women’s team is doing so for the second straight season.
Zeilstra and DeMaagd Receive All-MIAA Men’s Tennis Honors
The All-MIAA men’s tennis teams have been announced and two Calvin players have been so honored. Named to the All-MIAA first team for the third straight year from Calvin is senior Marcus Zeilstra while Calvin senior Steve DeMaagd has been named to the All-MIAA second team for the second straight year.
Men’s Tennis Defeated by Kalamazoo in MIAA Tournament Championship Finals
HOLLAND – Calvin’s run through the MIAA Tournament came to a close in the championship finals Saturday afternoon at Hope’s DeWitt Tennis Center with a 9-0 loss to Kalamazoo.
The victory gives Kalamazoo its 71st consecutive MIAA title. The championship streak is the longest in NCAA history at any level. The Hornets now advance to the NCAA III Tournament next week.
