Jenny joined the Calvin College Sports Medicine Staff in the fall of 2006. As Head Athletic Trainer she coordinates and provides athletic training services to all Calvin College student-athletes.

A native of Wyoming, Michigan, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Calvin College and a Master of Arts in Athletic Training from Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI). She was previously employed by Colby Sawyer College (New London, NH) where she served as assistant athletic trainer and clinical faculty for two years. During her time in New London she served as the athletic trainer for the Charger’s men’s soccer, men’s basketball, and women’s lacrosse teams.

During her free time she enjoys camping, hiking, reading, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Joe joined the Calvin College Sports Medicine Staff at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year. He assists the head athletic trainer and team physician in providing athletic training services to all Calvin College student-athletes.

A native of Zeeland, Michigan, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training from Hope College (Holland, MI). He was most recently employed by Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI) while he earned a Master of Arts in Athletic Training and Sports Management. During his time in Kalamazoo he served as the athletic trainer for the Bronco men’s soccer and softball teams.

During his free time he enjoys downhill skiing, kayaking, camping, golfing, and playing basketball.

Dr. Edwin Kornoelje, D.O.

Team Physician

Dr. Kornoelje joined the Calvin College Sports Medicine Staff in 2003. As Team Physician, he oversees the rest of the Sports Medicine Staff as they provide injury prevention, recognition, care, and rehabilitation to Calvin College student-athletes.

A native of Artesia, California, he graduated from Calvin College and earned his medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI). As a family practice physician, he also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Metro Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. In addition to being Calvin’s Team Physician and working in a busy practice, he currently serves as Medical Director for Metro Health Sports Medicine and is also the team physician for the Grand Rapids Griffins, West Michigan Whitecaps, Grand Rapids Rampage, and the West Michigan Edge. He is also the Medical Director for several runs and triathlons, including the Reed’s Lake Triathlon and the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon.

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, playing and coaching soccer, running, and downhill skiing.
