Academic Honors For Women's Hoops

The Women's WBCABasketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has announced its 2007-2008 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior ollege/Community College and Calvin College is one of 25 Division III schools that have been so honored. The awards recognize teams throughout the nation that have the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the 2007-2008 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches.

Under the direction of head coach John Ross, the Calvin women's basketball team compiled a 3.419 cumulative grade point average, leaving the Knights ranked 15th on the list of 25 Division III teams that made the honor roll. This is the third straight year that Calvin has received the honor.

Concordia University of Wisconsins leads this year's 25-team list with a 3.637 grade point average.

Earlier this summer, the Calvin women's basketball team earned the MIAA's Team GPA Award which requires a minimum grade point average of 3.30.
