Every year, Calvin hosts the Southwest Michigan Regional Special Olympic Games on the first Saturday in May. About 400 athletes come to our campus and compete in various athletic competitions including track and field, swimming, bocce ball, and horseshoes. The winners from these games will go on to compete in the state championship!

This year’s games will take place on May 4th, 2013. Chaperones will need to check in at 7:30am and stay until their athletes have completed all events. The day usually concludes before 1:00pm.
Chaperones can choose to attend one of two training sessions the week before the event, on either April 29 at 4:00pm in the Commons Annex Alumni Boardroom or April 30 at 4:00pm in the Commons Annex Lecture Hall.
Calvin College students are asked to be chaperones for the event. About 200 chaperones are needed in all.
