Philosophical Reflections on Liturgy

Directed by Nicholas P. Wolterstorff, Ph.D. and Terence D. Cuneo, Ph.D.
June 22 - July 10, 2009

Applicant Information

Who May Apply
Participants must have substantial training and expertise in philosophy, though we will be open to participants who are currently teaching and writing in some other field – theology, for example. We will not exclude the possibility of selecting one or two gifted graduate students; but we are looking mainly for those who already have a position teaching philosophy or some related field. We would like a mix of junior and senior scholars.

Applicants must give evidence of having already done work in the field. The selection of participants will be based, in part, on the quality and promise of the work submitted.

Membership in the seminar is open not just to Christian scholars but to anyone who is interested in reflecting philosophically on liturgy.

How to Apply
To apply, an applicant must submit the following:

  • this application form
  • a curriculum vitae or resume
  • a brief document explaining why you want to be a participant.
  • evidence that you have already done work in the area; this can be an essay, published or unpublished, or the syllabus of a course you have taught.

The CV/resume, brief document, and essay or syllabus must be sent as separate Word document attachments to seminars@calvin.edu with "Philosophical Reflections" in the subject line, and the applicant's name in the body of the email.

You will receive an email confirmation within 10 days of submitting your complete application. If you do not hear from us, please call us to determine whether your complete application has been received.

The application deadline is January 30, 2009. Participants will be selected after the application deadline. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered. Applicants will be notified of their status by March 1, 2009.
