Applicant Information

Who May Apply
Persons involved full-time in church ministries and those who prepare such persons for ministry are welcome to apply.

How to Apply
To apply, an applicant must submit the following:
1) the application form
2) a curriculum vitae or resume
3) a one-page description of his/her vocation and interest in the seminar

Items 2) and 3) must be sent as separate Word document attachments to seminars@calvin.edu with "Imaginative Reading for Creative Preaching" in the subject line, and the applicant's name in the body of the email.

You will receive an email confirmation within 10 days of submitting your complete application. If you do not hear from us, please call us to determine whether your complete application has been received.

The application deadline is January 15, 2009. Participants will be selected after the application deadline. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered. Applicants will be notified of their status by March 1, 2009.

Seminar Details
Out of town participants will receive some financial travel support and housing on Calvin's campus. Weekday lunches are provided for all participants.

Facilities and Services
Out of town participants are provided with on-campus housing in air-conditioned two-bedroom student apartments (we will assign an apartment-mate to those coming without family members). Spouses and children are welcome at no additional cost. Apartment kitchens and free laundry facilities add to the family-friendly nature of the accommodations.

Participants have access to all college facilities, including the college library (the most extensive research collection in West Michigan), sports facilities, and computer labs. Organized activities for children, as well as group events and excursions are offered. The SCS staff will make all logistical arrangements for participants and their families.
