Communitas: A Visiting Scholars Program

Communitas is a visiting scholars program that offers the opportunity for Christian scholars (and their families) to spend four weeks at Calvin College to continue work on their research. Participating in the summer community of scholars at Calvin should also function as a catalyst for research and thinking. Scholars will participate in the life of the Seminars program (on-campus lodging, weekday breaks and lunches, SCS picnics and social outings, etc.), will have access to the college's facilities (research library, computer facilities, physical fitness facilities, etc.), and are encouraged to find conversation partners in their fields within Calvin's faculty. Family members are also invited to accompany scholars for life in the on-campus apartments and participate in group social events and children's activities. Communitas scholars will be asked to give a presentation to the Seminars community based on their research.

Up to four Communitas visiting scholars will be selected from the applications. In addition, two Communitas fellowships will be offered to selected applicants.
