Sisters in Christ Celebrating Gospel Music

Anika Smith, Jennice Richardson, Jacqueline Rhodes, Beverly Robinson, Rhae-Ann Booker

Formed in 1999, IMANI is a female gospel ensemble comprised of five women committed to ministry through music. The music they perform together reflects their values and commitment to Christ. The word IMANI , faith in Swahili, embodies the essence of the group's identity as women of African descent and as women of faith.

Never compromising the biblically-based lyrical content, IMANI blends traditional and contemporary gospel music with jazz overtones to create a unique worship experience. Their style of music is very versatile and appealing to all ages and backgrounds allowing them to reach a broad audience with the good news of Jesus Christ.

IMANI members come from diverse denominational and musical backgrounds that provide a potpourri of Baptist, Church of God in Christ, Non-denominational, African Methodist Episcopal, classical, jazz, and gospel traditions. The ensemble feels its ministry is enriched through the unique gifts and contributions of each member.

IMANI has performed at schools, colleges, churches, television broadcasts, conferences and festivals. With their talent, IMANI has a solid future in Christian music. There is no substitute for their authentic gospel harmonies, which sing of the glory of God.
