Workshop Description:
The week-long disciplinary workshop for CCCU Theatre faculty
deals with the purpose, practice and pedagogy of theatre education in
a Christian college setting. The presenters of the workshop will focus
on the mission of Christ-based theatre education, the various structural
models possible in a Christian academy, spiritual and educational issues
of teaching acting, directing, playwriting, performance studies, and design,
as well as focusing on the importance of training Christian artists to
impact academic and professional theatres in future.
Drs. Freeberg and TerHaar will encourage workshop participants
to submit articles for an edited book
based on the same topic.
Program Description:
The purpose of the CCCU disciplinary workshops is to prepare
faculty members teaching in selected disciplines at CCCU institutions,
to develop Christian perspectives on substantive issues in their respective
disciplines and to deal with pedagogical issues related to the teaching
of their disciplines.
