Here's what we have planned for our reunion on Friday, June 16, 2006!
From 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. there will be registration and a welcome reception at Calvin’s Prince Conference Center. You will appreciate the convenient parking and easy access. Signs and members of the committee will direct you to the places where you can enjoy punch and fellowship with your friends.
At 11:30 a.m. the luncheon and program will be held in the Great Hall of the Prince Center. Special recognition will be given by the Alumni Association to the Classes of 1926, 1931, 1936, 1941, 1946, and 1951. Medallions will be presented to those who have not received one in a prior year. If you have already received a medallion, please wear it to the reunion!
Leonard Hofman ’48 will serve as our master of
ceremonies. Emily Zangaro ’05, reporter for WLNS
in East Lansing, Michigan, will
give a devotional meditation and prayer. We are pleased that Dirk
Pruis ‘82, Vice President for Advancement, who has recently
come to Calvin from Wall Street, will bring greetings and present an update
on the state of the college. A delicious lunch, prepared by Patrick
Mitchell, the Executive Chef of the Prince Conference Center,
will be served. Please feel free to contact the Alumni Office (616-526-6142)
with any special dietary needs.
After the meal, Keith Brautigam, Professor of Music,
will favor us with vocal solos. Ed Buikema ’74
will be our speaker. This in-demand speaker, trained by the FBI, associated
with Homeland Security, and serving as Region 5 Director of the Federal
Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA), will bring a message that is current and informative.
Following the luncheon, at 2:00 p.m., you may take part in one of four excellent sectional meetings hosted by:
Joy Bonnema ’91, Associate Professor of Biology, whose fascinating visual presentation will be “Joining in Creation’s Song.”
Roy Anker, Professor of English, will talk about “Meeting God in the Movies: The Best Movies Now and Then.”
Gary Schmidt, Professor of English, will answer the question “What is a College Professor Doing Writing Children’s Books?”
Quentin Schultze, Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences, will talk about “Celebrating God’s Call.”
You will also have opportunity to tour the Ecosystem Preserve
and the Bunker Interpretive Center, the newest, environmentally
friendly
facility on Calvin’s campus.
If you have any questions about the reunion, please contact the Alumni Office at the college at 616-526-6142.
