Schedule:
Can you believe it? Yes, it has been 50 years since we
graduated from Calvin! Let's get together and enjoy remembering good times
while we catch up with classmates.
Here's what's in store for Friday and Saturday, May 21 and 22.
Friday:
10:30 a.m. Welcome Reception — Prince Conference
Center
11:00 a.m. Tree Dedication Ceremony — Prince Center
Come and participate in the dedication of our class gift to the
college - a tulip tree. The dedication will include a litany testifying
to God's goodness and grace and will be followed by a time of song.
11:30 a.m. Luncheon — Prince Center
Enjoy a soup, salad and sandwich buffet, compliments of the Calvin
Development Office.
1:00 p.m. Tour of Frederik Meijer Gardens — leaving
from the Prince Center
4:30 p.m. Tour of the DeVos Communication Center (or,
if you've agreed to sing with the class choir on Saturday, rehearsal for
the choir's performance).
5:30 p.m. Reception and Registration for Evening Festivities
— Prince Conference Center
6:30 p.m. Dinner — Prince Conference Center
The evening activities will include a delicious dinner, an audio-visual
presentation with reminiscences of yesteryear, and several selections
performed by Synergy of Sound, a quartet in which classmate Jen Candler
participates. We'll end the evening by enjoying a dessert buffet prepared
especially for us by the Prince Center's excecutive chef, Patrick Mitchell.
Saturday:
10:00 a.m. Robe Fitting — Chapel Lobby
11:00 a.m. Chapel Service and Medallion Ceremony —
Chapel Sanctuary
The chapel speaker is our classmate, Rev. Arie Van Eek, who will give
us a message based on Galatians 5: 1 & 13 entitled "The Call
to '54." Also, musical members of our class will come together as
a choir for the service, directed by Evelyn Huizenga Rietberg.
12:00 p.m. Class Photo — Chapel Sanctuary
Immediately following the chapel service we'll have our class photo taken.
If you have a grandchild that is graduating from Calvin this year, please
arrange to have them meet you in the chapel to have your photo taken together.
12:30 p.m. Box Lunch — Chapel Undercroft
2:00 p.m. Bus to Commencement
3:00 p.m. 2004 Calvin College Commencement
At Commencement we'll hear a special address from Susan Felch, professor
of English, and our class will be seated together and recognized during
the ceremony. A special seating area will be reserved for spouses. Following
the ceremony, we will ride the bus to the Chapel to return our robes and
say our farewells.
SPOUSES ARE INVITED TO ALL EVENTS.
