Serious about Sand

Calvin geography professor Deanna van Dijk and student assistant Annelia Tinklenberg (Westminster, Colo.) are researching wind processes on Lake Michigan coastal dunes. Through the use of erosion pins and sand traps strategically placed on the dunes in Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon, Mich., they are collecting data on sediment transport by wind and resulting dune change. The following pictures were taken on March 30, 2002.
