Anthony Vander Lugt '58 of Raleigh, N.C., on 06/12/00. Anthony, professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering at North Carolina State University, was a pioneer in science and technology with his work in optical information processing. The field was transformed by his work and his original idea of the "interferometric" spatial filter. His idea lay at the heart of many advances in coherent optical filtering.
