Finding Your Place: Students of Color

Get a feel for Calvin

  • Fridays at Calvin is our visit program that allows you to sit in on a class, tour campus, talk to professors, and stay overnight in the dorms.
  • Entrada Scholars Program is a summer academic achievement program for North American ethnic minority high school juniors and seniors.
  • Office of Pre-College Programs offers events that help introduce youth and their parents to the college experience.
  • Students of Color Visit Grant: Calvin Admissions offers travel funding to encourage North American high school students who are Hispanic, Native American or African American to visit campus.

Living

  • Student on campusGrassroots is A Rooted Living-Learning Community: Cultivating our Ethnic Identities in Christ
  • Multicultural Student Development Office promotes cultural awareness by offering support services, programs, opportunities and events for students of color as well as the campus as a whole.
  • Student Organizations : Several student organizations (such as the Asian Club, Black Knight Forum, International Student Committee, etc.) focus on multiculturalism and diversity.

LearningStudents in the lab

  • Office of Multicultural Affairs works towards actualizing Calvin's goal of establishing a campus community committed to multicultural citizenship, anti-racism & accountability, and reconciliation & restoration.
  • Unlearn Week encourages the Calvin community to “unlearn” the sin of learned racism and focus on how to give Christ-like love to all people.
  • Tapestry Leadership Program provides students of color with academic support, peer networks, mentoring opportunities, leadership development experiences, and goal setting assistance.
