Let's never settle for good enough
At Calvin you’ll find opportunities for academic exploration beyond the classroom, whether you’re devoting a summer to research in the lab or spending a semester in Spain.
-
Internships: An internship is a great way to gain experience in your field. Career Development can help you find full- or part-time internships that fit with any major.
-
Honors Program: Challenge yourself to push beyond Calvin's already high academic standards by participating in honors courses and special events.
Study Abroad: Calvin offers ten semester abroad programs around the world as well as dozens of off-campus interim courses every year -- take advantage of them!
-
Interim: Every January students spend three weeks taking a single class for credit, giving you a chance to take core courses, unique on-campus courses (like classes on knitting or the music of U2), and dozens of off-campus options around the world from learning to sail in the Florida Keys to exploring traditional medicine in China.
Research: Calvin emphasizes research. Opportunities for student-faculty research are available during the school year and the summer. Check out some examples from these departments: Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Geography & Environmental Studies, Physics & Astronomy
-
McGregor Fellowship: This Fellowship opportunity allows sophomores to gain valuable research experience in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Fellows spend a summer working full-time with a faculty member and present their findings in a professional setting.
