Calvin Around Town

Calvin's alumni office is pleased to sponsor the following events for alumni and friends. Enjoy a Mediterranean reception in the Sultan's Tent along with a presentation by Bert de Vries, Calvin professor of history and director of archaeology minor, about the Middle Eastern marvel of Petra. And tour the exhibition at the following Calvin Around Town events at the Prince Conference Center!

  (Gather with other guests attending the Petra Family Festival)

The Calvin Alumni Association invites members of the following classes, along with your spouse or guest, to experience Petra: Lost City of Stone as part of your reunion celebration. You’ll be able to view the exhibition at a specially-reduced rate. More details about your particular reunion, along with the Petra component, will be mailed to you.

"Dig Deep, Dig Deeper"

Alumni families and friends of all ages: the Calvin Alumni Association invites you to come to campus on July 22nd — 24th for a weekend of exploration. Explore Petra: Lost City of Stone in depth; explore the arts through various media; and, explore the wonders of God's creation with "hands-on" activities.

Children and Youth

• Children ages 5 and under
  Music, games, story times, crafts…

• Children ages 6 — 12
  A rchaeological dig, jewelry making, cartooning, stamping, sports clinics, drama, science experiments, book club…

• Teens ages 13 — 18
  A rchaeological dig, observatory, Improv comedy clinic, advanced sports clinics, international cooking, IMAX theater, book club…

Adult

• Adults of all ages
  Archaeological dig, faith exploration, genealogy, international cooking, photography, coffees of the world, art, re-purposing something old, natural gardening, woodworking, get-fit clinic…

• In-depth Petra experience — see what the lost city of stone is all about.

• Spend a morning at Frederik Meijer Gardens
  - a unique botanical garden and sculpture park
  - sponsored by the Calvin Development Office.

• Family spiritual enrichment — daily vespers and Sunday morning worship on the Knollcrest lawn.

• Friday night picnic at the Bunker Interpretive Center.

• Scheherazade / Petra ballet performance by the Grand Rapids Ballet Company.
