Communication: New to Grand Rapids?

Nearly half of Calvin's student body come from states, provinces and countries other than Michigan, so it's important to provide this resource introducing new students and families to Grand Rapids and western Michigan.

See the Visitor Resources on Calvin's site for maps/directions, transportation, dining/lodging, and other links to help you navigate.

Lodging

Calvin parents are invited to stay in the Prince Conference Center on campus; availability may be limited during Family Weekend, Homecoming and Commencement. Please identify yourself as a Calvin parent when making a reservation for special rates.

Note: on-campus lodging in the residence hall is available for Calvin parents and families during Commencement in May.

Transportation

See the Visitor Resources for complete information. Here's some additional information not found there.

Students can get a Rapid Discount card for the The Rapid city bus.

However, Bus #17 runs between the airport and Woodland Mall; a transfer to Bus #6 runs between Woodland Mall and Calvin.

Three major shopping malls--Breton Village (A), Centerpointe Mall (B), and Woodland Mall (C)--are located close to campus. The largest shopping mall in the area is RiverTown Crossings Mall (D) in Grandville.
