Last week, the Christian Reformed Church of North America voted to ratify Michael K. Le Roy as the 10th president of Calvin College. He will be inaugurated on Saturday, October 20, 2012 during Homecoming and Family Weekend.
Le Roy and his wife, Andrea Nelson Le Roy, who were interviewed recently, have three children: son Dana and daughters Hannah and Astrid. His family was involved in his decision to consider a move to Calvin. He discusses the discernment process and mentions this latest "adventure" for their family in the interview he gave with Synod, the governing body of all churches in the Christian Reformed denomination.
Farewell to President Byker
As we praise God for Calvin's new president, we thank Him for Gaylen and Susan Byker's 17 years of service to Calvin, for which they were recently awarded the Spoelhof Lifetime Achievement Award. Be sure to read the online Spark story, "Generosity and Gratitude," with extra links and information about the Bykers. Watch a short video of highlights from "A Byker Farewell."
On the Bykers' last day on campus, Monday, June 25, all are invited to a farewell reception at 10 a.m. on the Commons Lawn. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
We want to welcome new parents to the Calvin-Parents e-newsletter! Calvin-Parents keeps parents and families informed of news, events and helpful information from campus. It will be published less frequently over the summer, with weekly issues resuming late August. If you have questions or concerns during the summer, contact parent relations (616-526-6142; email@example.com). We're here all summer long. Stay tuned for Calvin-Parents to sport a brand-new look soon!
Additional parent resources are found on the parent website; those pages are continually updated, and the parents online calendar is currently being updated. If you have suggestions or can't find something, contact us.
