Send your student this sweet treat for Valentine's Day: a hand-made gourmet pretzel, a $5 gift certificate to Johnny's and fun snacks (including a few "kisses"), delivered to your student on Valentine's Day. The Valentine Treat ($20) is included in the Year of Treats. The order deadline is Tuesday, February 8, 2011, and this gift will be delivered to students on Tuesday , February 14.
Remember that you can always surprise your student with the popular Pizza Treat ($20) or Hugs from Home ($30), which can be ordered anytime and often! Celebrate a birthday, a special occasion, or remember your student "just because" it's the weekend and he or she has been working hard on papers or studying. And there are Birthday Treats, too, for anytime in the year.
For more information on any treat, please visit the Student Treats site.
Does your son or daughter have a younger brother or sister (or cousin, nephew, etc.) that would love to visit him or her on campus? While guests are certainly welcome all year long, it is especially fun for young visitors to come during Siblings Weekend, February 24-26, 2012.
This annual event is sponsored by residence life, with help from student activities, food service, and the Campus Store. A number of fun activities and events have been planned, and siblings can eat any and all meals as part of the $24 registration fee.
For online registration click the Register button and/or forward this information to the appropriate parents of your "siblings."
Celebrate uKnight Week, Calvin’s winter “spirit week,” February 4-11, 2012. The festivities include the annual Cold Knight Club: Sem Pond Jump, campus activities, performances, Wear Calvin Day (for everyone, anywhere), Senior Salute, Ambassadors Lunch honoring Professor David Holwerda and Jim and Dolly Strikwerda, AirBand, sporting events, karaoke and more.
The Calvin/Hope rivalry will again feature the family-friendly satellite game on February 11, 2012, which showcases the men's varsity game. For "The Game," Calvin and Hope fans gather at a designated viewing location and enthusiastically cheer on their team. Take the whole family to a site near you!
Does your student call home and say he/she misses your mashed potatoes? Are you wondering if your student living off campus is getting a balanced diet - enough leafy greens in a fresh salad? Does he/she have no time to grocery shop or cook?
There's still opportunity to join the Community Dining Program - affordable, flexible options of meals for students who live off campus, residents of Knollcrest East, or the Timmer Studio Apartments!

Parents, are you planning to apply for financial aid for your son or daughter for 2012-2013? If so, now is the time to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for maximum consideration. Even if you will not have your tax return finished it's more important to submit the FAFSA by March 1st (using estimates) than to wait until your tax return is completed. If you have special circumstances to present to the financial aid office be sure to submit a Calvin supplemental aid form in addition to the FAFSA.
And don't forget about "named" scholarships and other similar scholarships available that students can access via the online search tool. A number of other scholarships are awarded to students in particular academic departments. Applications for these scholarships are available from, and must be submitted to, the academic department for which the scholarship is designated. The application for most of these scholarships needs to be completed and submitted by March 1, 2012.
If you have any questions, contact the financial aid office at email@example.com (800-688-0122).
