Prayers, healing, worship

As the world watches, and responds to, the tragic events in Japan, this new Lenten resource, "Healing," from the Worship Institute seems particularly apropos. Every month, the Praying with Calvin page is updated with ideas to inform your prayers for Calvin.  See the prayer suggestions for the month of March.

The Calvin Institute of Christian Worship offers a wide range of practical resources and scholarly works for congregational leaders, pastors, teachers of worships, students, artists, and all interested in worship. For more news and notes from the Worship Institute, see

Another column to read is from former chaplain Dale Cooper, "He Ascended to Heaven," on the ascension of Christ. Writes Cooper: "Just before he departed earth and returned to heaven, Jesus spoke to his disciples. He made an astonishing claim about himself, and he gave them an all-important command." Gospel Choir

Gospel Choir tour

The  mission of Calvin College's Gospel Choir, directed by Dr. Charsie Sawyer, is to proclaim the word of God in song while representing the varied worship styles in a diverse, Christian manner. The Calvin College Gospel Choir will also provide a forum in which gospel musicians are able to transcend cultural differences, uniting all believers for a common purpose. You can find listening sample of the choir here.

Please support these students while on tour in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Ohio during Spring Break, March 20-27, 2011. See the tour website. You may also follow them via their Facebook page where you will find photos of their travels and updates from the trip.

Please support the Gospel Choir as they bring Calvin's message to many with their music over Spring Break.
