ChapelAs the academic year ends, the campus community is reflecting on the year past and prayerfully considering the future. Today's chapel was led by a student worship team and Provost Claudia Beversluis with songs of praise to the Lord who has prospered our work, including prayers for God's blessings for faculty and staff who are retiring or leaving Calvin for other places.
Senior Engineering Design ProjectsThe 25th annual engineering banquet was held Saturday, May 9. The evening's activities began in the Vermeer Engineering Projects Center and Prince Engineering Design Center. There, families were able to view the displays and prototypes developed by the design teams and dinner followed in the Commons Dining Hall. Following the dinner, presentations of all the Senior Engineering Design Projects were given in the Science Building, North Hall, and the Commons Lecture Hall. Be sure to read more about these projects, including the picture-taking, remote-controlled airplane, that was featured in the local newspaper. Breakfast for parents of graduates May 23Parents of graduates please note: The deadline for ordering breakfast tickets has been extended to this Friday, May 15. Don't miss out on your chance to celebrate with President Byker, student-selected "2008 Professor of the Year" Dr. Todd Vanden Berg, and other Calvin administrators for this special Commencement event on Saturday, May 23 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the Prince Conference Center. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased from the Calvin Box Office online or by calling 616-526-6282. Seating is limited to the first 300 parents who place their order. (Note: During this event the graduates will be participating in the annual Senior Breakfast held in the Commons Dining Hall.) Speaking of Commencement...Parents of graduates should be sure to check the Commencement site to keep track of the schedule for the weekend, how to order photos and gifts and more. Calvin's summer learning opportunities for all agesCalvin provides a variety of summer youth camps and educational programs for elementary, middle and high school students. Included among these programs are: athletic, chemistry and foreign language camps, Knollcrest Music Camp, a Wetlands & Woodlands Camp and Academic Camps of Excellence (A.C.E.). A.C.E. camps offer opportunities to work on sophisticated equipment and learn from brilliant teachers in the areas of computing (using "Scratch" software), chemistry, physics, science, luminescence, math and literature/writing. Other youth programs including the popular S.T.E.P. (Striving Toward Educational Possibilities) program. Visit Summer Programs for program and registration information for all of these offerings.
