Calvin College and the admissions staff is thankful that a record number of students have applied and been admitted for the fall. These next couple of weeks are an important time for those students to make enrollment decisions. May 1 is the date by which most colleges ask new students to submit an enrollment deposit to confirm their place in the fall's class. Please be sure to encourage the new students (and parents) who you know with a call, note, or email as they face this key decision-making time. Any family needing more information - or additional time to make a decision - should contact their admissions counselor or call the admissions and financial aid office at 1-800-688-0122.

School records continued to fall for the Calvin women’s track and field team on the final day of competition at the Hillsdale Gina Relays Saturday afternoon. For the third time this spring, senior Julie Bratt (Lynden, WA) reset her own school mark in the triple jump, recording an NCAA III provisional qualifying mark of 39-1 1/4, becoming the first individual in Calvin women’s track and field history to hit the 39-foot mark in the triple jump. Bratt’s jump was the third school record of the meet for the Knights as senior Lauren Bergstrom (Rochester, MN) set a school mark in the 1500 meters and junior Elizabeth Smit in the 3,000 meter steeplechase the night before.
Bratt’s jump was part of several NCAA III provisional qualifying performances for Calvin on Saturday. Read more about this story and other sports headlines, here.

The Jubilee Fellows program is designed for students who are strongly inclined toward spiritual leadership and Christian ministry. Each fall, 12 junior-level students are selected to participate in the program. A spring seminar style course is followed by a 10-week summer internship. During the fall of their senior year, Fellows use their leadership gifts in service to the Calvin community. Meet the 2009 Fellows on the Faith Web site.
Some parents have asked about Calvin's policy regarding storage of student property during the summer months. Students who will be returning to Calvin in September 2009 to live in either the residence halls or Knollcrest East apartments may store boxes and trunks in the designated trunk storage rooms. Although these rooms are locked throughout the summer, students must understand that storage is considered "at your own risk" as the college does not have insurance for students' personal property. Students can make arrangements for storage by communicating with their Resident Director.
