Student health insurance
During the month of March, each student is asked to submit information about their current health insurance coverage. Students will be asked to submit this information through an online waiver system available through their KnightVision account beginning March 1st. Paper versions of the enrollment and waiver forms are available for download at http://www.calvin.edu/admin/health and may be submitted to health services anytime before April 15th.
Students will have the opportunity to enroll in or waive the KnightCare Student Health Insurance Plan for the 2010-2011 academic year. If a student chooses to waive KnightCare, they must be prepared to answer questions about their current health insurance coverage. Occasionally this insurance information is something that a college student will need to obtain from a parent or guardian.
Students who enroll in the plan and students who do not fill out a waiver form by April 15th will have the KnightCare premium posted to their miscellaneous account in June. Plan coverage begins August 15, 2010 and expires on August 15, 2011.
For additional information about student health insurance, students and parents can visit the health services site. For questions or concerns, please contact Kelly Moore or Jamie Klop (616-526-6187, health@calvin.edu).
Nursing admission decisions
Calvin students who have made application to the upper division nursing major for the fall of 2010 will receive notification of acceptance or non-acceptance this week. Those who are not admitted will be offered support and encouragement via their academic advisor, the Broene Counseling Center and the career development office. Please feel free to contact the nursing department at 616-526-7076 with any questions you may have.

Recommend Calvin, Fridays at Calvin
Alumni, help us recruit students to the school you love! Talk to high school students, parents, guidance counselors, pastors—even students already admitted to Calvin. Tell your Calvin story, and let us know who you're talking to by April 15 and you have a chance to win gift cards to the campus store.
The best way for a student to learn about Calvin is to visit. There are many options for visiting, but Fridays at Calvin is the premiere visit program. The admissions office has a video about a typical Fridays at Calvin experience on their page, and more information about other options like Science Visit Days, Summer Visits, and Group Visits. Also, find out more about the Students of Color Visit Grant.
As always, you can contact the admissions office for more information (admissions@calvin.edu, 800-688-0122, 616-526-6106).
Scholarship information
Current students have been informed of the opportunity to apply for named and departmental scholarships for 2010-2011. These "named" scholarships are established by donors for students who meet specific eligibility criteria, often based on factors such as academic major, intended career goal, GPA, minority status, etc. Students can access an online search tool to assist with this process. The application form for upperclass named scholarships, and for nursing, education, engineering, chemistry, biology, geology, science division, math, computer science and business scholarships are all available on-line. All current students who will be attending Calvin next year are encourage to apply! Students can access and complete the application on KnightVision: KnightVision> My Resources> Student Scholarships and Financial Aid>Upperclass Named Scholarship Application.
A number of other scholarships are awarded to students in particular academic departments. Applications for these scholarships are available from, and must be submitted to, the academic department for which the scholarship is designated. The application for most of these scholarships needs to be completed and submitted by March 1. Contact the scholarships & financial aid office with questions.
