Important campus move-in day reminders

Due to large construction projects underway on campus, there are many changes to the move-in process. Please visit Move In Maps and Car Window Signs to find out what you need to do to have a smooth return to campus! We look forward to seeing you soon.

What is QUEST?

If your son or daughter is starting Calvin this fall as a new first-year or transfer student, they will be participating in QUEST from September 3-6, 2008. QUEST is a three-and-a-half day program that takes place just before school begins. Family members are welcome during move-in day (September 3) and for an evening cookout on the Commons lawn. Following dinner, QUEST starts and is designed just for your student. Incidentally, QUEST director John Britton is one of the best in the country as recognized by his peers.

Snail mail and phone information

Street addresses were created for Calvin's campus in the spring of 2003. The intent of having street addresses is to provide better response to 911 emergencies, aid the drive-ability of campus for visitors and improve mail delivery services. Mail services has all the updated address information on their Calvin Street Addresses website which includes your son or daughter's exact dorm mailing address. Phone extensions for your son or daughter's dormitory room will be available when he or she moves in. Student Treats...order now!

The Student Treats program sends treats and goodies to students for a birthday, special event or as an "anytime" surprise to remind your student of your love and support. Anyone can order individual treats or "A Year of Treats" which saves time and money. The deadline to order either the "Year of Treats" or the first seasonal treat (the Preferred Vendors Key Card) is September 17. The Preferred Vendors KeyCard is a valuable discount card that unlocks savings at hundreds of businesses throughout western Michigan. Students can save at local and chain restaurants, theaters, video stores, dry cleaners, car washes, oil changes and more! The KeyCard is only $20 and it comes with a merchant guidebook (with valuable coupons!) and is good for an entire year.

The Sports website is sporting a new look!

Just like the athletic facilities on campus, the Sports website has undergone a major reconstruction project and it's finally completed! The sports information team has worked hard over the summer to present a more aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly experience to all Calvin Knights fans. Be sure to visit, leave your comments and check out the upcoming athletic events on the schedule so you can cheer on the Knights all year long!

Faith and the Chapel theme for 2008-2009

The daily chapel schedule for 2008-2009 features a different theme each day of the week: Monday is "Getting Started," Tuesday is "Community Voices," Wednesday is "The Word," Thursday is "Sacred Spaces," and Friday is "Songfest." The Faith website has more information on chapels, worship opportunities, local churches, worship times, etc.

Sept. 1-3: Passport IV (orientation for students and families who must travel long distances)
Sept. 2: Tuition, room and board payment due
Sept. 3-6: Quest fall orientation for new and transfer students begins and residence halls open for them
Sept. 5: Residence halls and KE apartments open for returning students
Sept. 8: Fall semester classes begin at 8:00 a.m.; Opening Convocation at 9:50 a.m.
Sept. 11: Mandatory meeting for all prospective and returning athletes. Information available from the coaches.
