On-campus housing information and The Dormulator

First-year and transfer students who are registered to live in the residence halls will receive notification of their residence hall assignment in early August; students who applied later in the spring will be notified later in August. Students have already received roommate information and have been encouraged to contact each other before arrival so that they can begin to get acquainted, share information about what they are bringing for the room, etc. Although students will learn of their residence hall assignment in early August, they will not know their specific room assignment until they move in at the end of August. The Housing Office website is your best source for information about roommates, residence halls and arranging a dorm room (which you can do now using The Dormulator!).
Orientation 101...who, what and when?
Whether you are a traditional, international, transfer or non-traditional student, the student development office's Orientation website is a must-see. Your student will explore campus, meet new people, map their Calvin journey and attend a Streetfest session...soon!
Campus Store Textbook Reservations: get a free bag!
Now is a great time to reserve textbooks for the fall semester using the newly redesigned Campus Store website. Students don't need to stand in lines to buy books since the Campus Store will pack each student's textbooks and deliver them directly to their residence hall desks. Students living off campus can pick up their pre-packaged orders from the Campus Store. Also, the first 1500 students to submit their orders will receive a free bag (pictured here). This is a great way to save money on textbooks since orders will be filled with used textbooks while they last. So get online and save!
Information Technology: laptops, logins and more
Calvin Information Technology provides computing, printing, copying, telephone and cable television services to the Calvin College community. You should visit the CIT main website to find out about bringing a computer to campus, anti-virus software offered, wireless access, etc.
Check the Parent Calendar for important dates
Bookmark the Parent Calendar page to keep track of important dates throughout the year, including one for tuition, room and board due on September 2! There are also links on this page to the Academic Calendar, the Concert Calendar, the Sport Calendar, etc.
News & Stories from campus
Check out a wealth of great stories on the News & Stories website, including a profile of psychology professor Sergio da Silva who puts people to sleep! There is also an account of amazing summer research opportunities for students that included wind power generation, cholesterol studies, the ideal electronic atom and African pastors’ attitudes about HIV.
