As we look ahead to Commencement...

Parents of graduates are invited to a breakfast on Commencement morning, Saturday, May 24. And not just for parents, this breakfast might be of interest to grandparents and features guest speaker Michelle Lloyd-Paige, parent, professor and pastor. Find out more and get tickets ($15) today.

Classic race

We hope to see you at an event soon! Parents and families are always invited to alumni and friends events around the country all year long.

This weekend, Saturday, April 26, is the Calvin 5k Spring Classic---sign up to run, walk, stroll, handcycle or volunteer. It's not too late! Proceeds directly benefit student scholarships and help put the Calvin experience within reach for remarkable students. Scholarship recipients are high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership in volunteer community service.

Celebrate with student-athletes

The Calvin C Club welcomes student-athletes, coaches, fans and families of the Knights to a celebration of Calvin athletics on Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m. There will be desserts and refreshments, trophy displays, a "Year in Review" video and the presentation of 13 student awards, culminating in the Tiemersma and Beré Awards for female and male athlete of the year. And, this year, C Club will be giving the inaugural Knight of Distinction Award to an alumni athlete. Don't miss this!

Registration for current Calvin student-athletes is available through their coaches, and registration for all others is available online now! Cost is just $10 ($5 for current students and C Club members; FREE for ages 17 & under). Find out more »

Waltman Lake availability

Department meetings, sports camps, family reunions, dorm retreats, youth outings, wedding/wedding receptions, interim classes, leadership meetings...all of these events will happen at Calvin's Waltman Lake for 2014. Read more about Waltman Lake.

Whether you are looking for a winter weekend, summer retreat or fall getaway, please see the online calendar to view availability for this affordable recreation option. Contact Matt Hoekzema (616-526-7673) for more information.

Academic advising soon

Academic Advising will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 29 and 30, 2014. There are no classes those days so that professors are available to meet with their advisees. Students are instructed to meet with their advisor during this time (per faculty schedule) to prepare, and be cleared, for registration.

Please do all you can to encourage your student to take full advantage of academic advising, with multiple advisors for certain majors/programs, if applicable. This is also a great time to catch up on reading and writing, or taking care of details with the registrar's office for graduation. Find out more or contact Dana Hebreard (
