I´m very excited to get to know students and share the Grand Rapids area with them as we all get to know it better! I have led wilderness orientation trips in the past and served as a resident assistant for the Entrada Scholars Program. Service is a unique approach, based in humility. You will learn as much as you give.

We are co-associate directors in the Service-Learning Center at Calvin College. We're excited to welcome students to Grand Rapids and especially to the Creston neighborhood, where our family lives, worships, attends school, plays, and serves. This week will be a great opportunity for you to work alongside who are committed to providing fair and affordable housing and healthy food options for their neighbors.

I am involved with the Urban Experience because I think it is such an exciting way for students to begin their life at Calvin College. One of Calvin's greatest assets is the city of Grand Rapids. To introduce students to both its challenges and assets is a significant honor. I believe that students who participate in the Urban Experience have a unique opportunity to better understand the city and to enjoy it in more meaningful ways while they are students here at Calvin.
