TRANSITIONS is a program for new first-year and transfer students who are starting Calvin for the interim or spring semester. As an adult family member, we invite you to attend sessions designed for you during the first afternoon. The remainder of the program is designed for your student.
At TRANSITIONS you will
Since TRANSITIONS provides only a half-day program for families, we do not offer on-campus housing. The Prince Conference Center is available for a limited number of rooms and a fee. If you call to reserve a room, mention that you are with the TRANSITIONS program. There are also off-campus options nearby.
Your student's TRANSITIONS program will have two parts if they are coming for Interim. For Interim students, Part I is on January 5, 2016 from 11:30am-6:00pm with optional activities following. Parents are invited to attend Part I. Part II for Interim will be two lunches on January 7 and January 14 from 12:15pm-1:45pm to discuss core curriculum and advising, as well as opportunities at Calvin. For spring students, TRANSITIONS is a two-day orientation program starting January 28, 2016 at 1:30pm and goes through January 29. Parents are invited to attend on January 28. This will include meeting with an advisor to confirm your class schedule, learning about opportunities at Calvin, as well as a Grand Rapids outing!
If you are planning to live in the residence halls or Knollcrest East apartments, Interim students may move-in January 5 between 9:00am and 11:00am. Spring students may move-in January 28, between 10:00am and 1:00pm.

We welcome all family members to TRANSITIONS, but please note the program is designed for adults. Younger family members are welcome to accompany parents, but we are unable to provide programming for them.
There is a charge for attending TRANSITIONS. The student registration fee is $150. Up to two adult family members may attend parent programming for free. The orientation fee will be added to your student's account by the Financial Services Office in February.
