M-37, Jason Bosma M37 was discovered by Charles Messier. Messier discovered M37 on September 2, 1764. M37 is the brightest of the three open clusters in southern Auriga. M37 is also the richest of the three. It contains roughly over 500 stars. It's distance is roughly between 3600 and 4400 light years away. References:
