December 4, 2001 We at the college will acknowledge this day in three ways: 1. Our morning chapel will include a prayer for reconciliation and forgiveness. 2. From 12.30-1:30 pm the chapel will be open for personal prayer, and at 1:30 there will be a brief service of community prayer. 3. At 3:30 pm in the Commons Lecture Hall, Calvin Hofland, for six years a missionary in Guinea, West Africa and currently the missionary-in-residence at Calvin Seminary, will deliver an illustrated lecture on "Coming Face to Face with Islam." |

September 17-21, 2001 Disaster Relief Drive Mason jars will be placed in Johnny's, the dorm desks, and all the dept. offices that will allow us to have one on their desk. All of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross to assist in paying for cleanup, survivor needs, and family support for those who lost a loved one in the acts of terror. |

| Wednesday, September 19, 2001 Town Hall Meeting
with Congressman Vern Ehlers Calvin alum and former professor Vern Ehlers, U.S. House of Representatives, will hold a town meeting to allow citizens to express their opinions and ask questions regarding last week's tragic terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. The meeting will be held in Loosemore Auditorium on the ground level of Grand Valley State University's DeVos Center, 401 West Fulton in Grand Rapids. Parking is available in GVSU's Watson Street lot. The lot is located one block south of Secchia Hall and can be reached off Fulton Street by turning south on either Winter or Mt. Vernon Streets. |

| Saturday, September 15, 2001 A Ceremony of Remembrance
and Resolve There will be a community-wide service held in front of the Ford Museum at Ah-Nab-Awen Park. President Ford will call in and make a statement during the service. Members of the armed forces, the Red Cross, the Grand Rapids Police and Fire Department, and representatives from the airlines will all be present. The ceremony will end at sunset (7:58 p.m.) with a candle lighting. Please join the greater Grand Rapids community in a time of remembrance for the victims of this week's tragedy and a show of unity for our country. Bring your American Flag and a blanket or lawn chair to sit in. |
