Rhodes Returns to Her Roots

Jacque Rhodes is the new Assistant Dean for Multicultural Student Development at Calvin College, moving into that slot after half a decade of work at Calvin as an Academic Counselor.

Calvin vice president Shirley Hoogstra says Rhodes will be a great fit for her new task.

"Jacque has worked diligently and effectively to support and retain ethnic minority students during the past five years," says Hoogstra. "Now, in many ways, Jacque is returning to her roots in student development since before coming to Calvin she served as a residence hall director for five years at Grand Valley (State University)."

Hoogstra describes Rhodes as "an energetic, compassionate and diligent advocate for all students."

Last semester Rhodes not only worked as an Academic Counselor, but also served as an advisor to Calvin's Multicultural Student Advisory Board and worked as a co-facilitator of a Seminar on the Healing of Racism.

Rhodes is a native of Memphis, Tenn. She has a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and a master's in education from Grand Valley.
