Women's History Month Events

Calvin College will hold 13 events celebrating Women's History Month over a 20-day period spanning the last five days of February and the first 15 days of March.

The events include a wide variety of topics, everything from the black female body in photography to women's soccer to women in ancient times to women heroes of the Civil Rights movement.

Calvin professor Helen Sterk (above) is heading up a planning committee that has put together the varied line-up.

The series begins on Friday, February 23 with "The Black Female Body in Photography," a lecture by photographer Carla Williams. It concludes on Thursday, March 15 with "The Courage of Her Convictions: Fannie Lou Hamer and the Struggle for Civil Rights," a lecture by Calvin professor Garth Pauley on a courageous, yet often neglected, figure in the American civil rights movement. In between is a diverse groups of lectures, plays, films and more.
