
Jo-Ann VanReeuwyk is a tenured professor at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Heading the Art Education program, she currently also acts as co-chairperson of the Department of Art and Art History. Raised in Ontario, Canada she has spent much of her career on the West Coast. She earned her B.A. degree at Calvin College and completed her post-graduate work at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. She recently earned a State Award for Service Learning as well as a Distinguished Service Award for the Michigan Art Education Association. A fiber artist who is very active on a national level, her work is included in two recent traveling exhibitions: Beyond Basketry 08, receiving the Juror’s Award and All Things Considered 08-09 of the National Basketry Organization. VanReeuwyk’s work is also featured in Lark Book’s 500 Baskets. She has earned the equivalency of an M.F.A. degree through her work. She is a member of Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA), the Michigan and National Art Education Associations, and the National Basketry Organization and has presented numerous papers and workshops for them. She is also on the board of trustees for the Arts Council of Greater Grand Rapids in Michigan. Currently her work is represented by Cascade Gallery and at her studio at (106) Gallery in downtown Grand Rapids.
