
Wisnu Sasongko was born in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1975. He graduated from the Fine Art Faculty ISI Yogyakarta in 2002 and went on to pursue a master’s program in cultural studies at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad including Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, and Canada. He was the 2004-05 artist in residence at the Overseas Ministry Studies Center (OMSC) in New Haven, Connecticut. His solo exhibition at OMSC was titled Think on These Things providing the title for a monograph of his work published in 2005 also by OMSC. His paintings have been shown in a variety of venues in the United States including Gordon College in the Boston area, the Institute of Sacred Music at Yale University in New Haven, the International Performing Art Black Rock Gallery, in Fairfield, New York, and Northwestern College, Iowa. He was one of the featured artists in the exhibit The Christian Story: Five Asian Artists Today (2007) organized by MOBIA in New York City and was published in the accompanying catalogue. In addition, he is the recipient of a number of awards, has organized a number of exhibitions and is a member of the Asian Christian Art Association (ACAA).
