Welcome to the first season of our new series—The Guest Artist Series! This series is designed to feature the most robust vocal ensembles and electrifying soloists on the music scene. Outstanding instrumentalists will be joining the series as well. The 2014–15 season kicks-off with two of the most popular artists in Calvin College history. So, make sure you have your tickets because you will not want to miss one moment of The Guest Artist Series.

Canadian Brass         

Five tremendous brass musicians—each a virtuoso in his own right—form the legendary Canadian Brass. With an international reputation as one of the most popular brass ensembles today, Canadian Brass has truly earned the distinction of “the world’s most famous brass group.” The varied Canadian Brass repertoire features brass standards as well as a wide-ranging library of original arrangements created especially for them.

December 5 & 6

Oratorio presents Handel’s Messiah

George Frideric Handel composed Messiah in 1741 and it was first performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742. This year marks the Oratorio Society’s 95th presentation of the work. This season features the debut performance of conductor Sean Ivory. Prof. Ivory is a highly respected conductor and is composer both locally and internationally recognized.

St. Olaf Choir          

The St. Olaf Choir, with 75 mixed voices, is the pioneer a cappella choir in the United States. Since its founding in 1912, the St. Olaf Choir has set a standard of choral excellence and remained at the forefront of choral artistry. Calvin College is thrilled to welcome Anton Armstrong, conductor, back to Calvin for St. Olaf’s 100 Anniversary Performance.
