

The High School Honor Band Festival is a day long event for area instrumentalists. The festival is an opportunity for students to interact, learn from, and perform with members of the Calvin College Wind Ensemble under the direction of a guest conductor.

The Calvin Alumni Choir and The Capella of Calvin College join forces to present Celebrate Life. The joint choirs will be under the direction of Pearl Shangkuan and Joel Navarro.

George Frideric Handel composed Messiah in 1741 and it was first performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742. This year marks the Oratorio Society’s 93rdpresentation of the work. The ensemble will be under the direction of Joel Navarro. Dr. Joel Navarro is associate professor of music at Calvin College. Prior to his appointment at Calvin, he was assistant professor and chair of the choral conducting department at the University of the Philippines College of Music for sixteen years. This year marks his sixth year as music director of the Calvin Oratorio Society. Joining the choir and orchestra will be soloists Martha Guth, soprano; Eric Jurenas, countertenor; Fitah Rasendrahasina, tenor and Richardo Lugo, bass.

Student Rush Pass
Students of any age with a valid student ID can purchase a $5 Student Rush Pass one hour prior to the performance at the Calvin College Box Office located in the west lobby of the Covenant Fine Arts Center. This offer is subject to availability. Student ID must be presented. Limit one ticket per student.
