Welcome to The Department of Music at Calvin College. The ability to make music is one of God’s choicest gifts to His people. Music enriches our lives, rouses our emotions, and stimulates our intellect. At Calvin College, there are many opportunities for you to use your musical gifts to “make a joyful noise!"
Meet Rachael Hoekwater, a music major in her junior year at Calvin. Inspired by her dad's piano playing abilities, Rachael began studying piano in the second grade. She chose Calvin because she wanted to attend a school that challenged her to think critically about her career path as it connects with God’s call for her life as a musician, daughter, friend, worshipper, and teacher.
